Thanks, NikL!
I like your sense of humor as well as your enlightened outlook!
Best Wishes.
i live in california where pot just became legal for recreational use very similar to alcohol.
my wife who is a very active jw has had her medical card for cannabis for a couple of years now.
and i know several in our congregations around our area who are using it medically.
Thanks, NikL!

continual rain, at long last, has ended another typically hot and dry summer, one that gave every appearance of extending far into a protracted indian summer.
yet, october was unusually wet.
this thanksgiving week promises daily rain.. an unforeseen sadness is creeping gradually, insidiously into the fabric of my life.

An unforeseen sadness is creeping gradually, insidiously into the fabric of my life. Dangling threads of a garment hanging loosely about my diminishing frame are unraveling more quickly than I can stitch them back together into whole cloth. Strange, this annual change in weather that I anticipate so eagerly always produces the same result upon my disposition.
I love the cool and wet and dark . . . Nonetheless, I am saddened at the departure of sun and blue sky.

Greetings, NikL:
Thanks for sharing. I, too, live in the Golden State and have non-JW acquaintances who use it medicinally.
Question: Would a JW have to take cannabis in a form other than smoking it? I just can't envision Sister NikL and other JWs with a joint in hand . . .
the first time i walked into a kingdom hall, i was about 15 years old.
i shook hands with a 12-year-old named quincy.
as time passed and we grew older, quincy hung out with us older j-dubs.
Yes, Quincy aka Quentin . . . Thanks, Terry, for the memory jog.
I want to go back and reread his many wonderful posts -- so encouraging.

Thanks, Terry, for posting this.
Quincy -- his user name, lamallcool -- was a genuinely kind and respectful fellow. I appreciated his thoughtful comments on what I wrote.
I'm sorry, Terry, for your losing such a good friend. It's a mutual loss, to be sure.
instead of making a new thread for every little thing related to memorial 2017, i'm going to try to post here.

Hi, there.
We've talked punctuation before, and the deal is that the pubs are printed in American English. I was a proofreader at Brooklyn Bethel.
I am not hurt that you received 4 likes and I received none regarding my similar but diametrically opposite comment.
So, then . . . is there no Oxford -- penultimate -- comma in La Nouvelle Zelande?!?!?
Your reply is most heartily anticipated. BTW, when visiting The Gold Coast, I did not employ the serial comma in my speech because I was dealing with severe misunderstanding of the Aussie spoken word and I had to let go of my usually necessary compulsions. Choose your battles . . . sigh. . . .

PEACE, HEALTH, AND PROSPERITY
I am impressed. Not only is the message alluring, but the use of the Oxford comma has me -- once again! -- at "hello"!

I would never allow my children to walk through tall grass. The episode on "House, M.D." about a tick bite's causing paralysis had me at "hello."
Oh, sorry -- it's Paradise.
my grandfather was a 32nd degree mason.. my parents ended up with one of his books called "morals and dogma" published by the masons.. i remember looking through it years ago and seeing multiple mentions of jehovah.. as it turns out, it's in the public domain on project gutenberg and is there fore searchable.. found this interesting in light of chuck russell's alleged mason connection.. it says about jehovah and the divine name.... whether the legend and history of this degree are historically true, or but an allegory, containing in itself a deeper truth and a profounder meaning, we shall not now debate.
if it be but a legendary myth, you must find out for yourself what it means.
it is certain that the word which the hebrews are not now permitted to pronounce was in common use by abraham, lot, isaac, jacob, laban, rebecca, and even among tribes foreign to the hebrews, before the time of moses; and that it recurs a hundred times in the lyrical effusions of david and other hebrew poets..
Greetings, NikL:
I recall in older WT publications (post-CTR) references to Jehovah as the Great Architect.
The Great Architect of the Universe (also Grand Architect of the Universe or Supreme Architect of the Universe) is a conception of God discussed by many Christian theologians and apologists. As a designation it is used within Freemasonry to represent deity neutrally (in whatever form, and by whatever name each member may individually believe in). It is also a Rosicrucian conception of God, as expressed by Max Heindel. The concept of the demiurge as a grand architect or a great architect also occurs in gnosticism and other religious and philosophical systems.

my cousin, whom is not jw, but we have grown up together our whole lives has just gotten engaged to her same sex partner, i am very conflicted on wether i can/should attend the wedding or not.
i am very close with my cousin and her partner and they are very understanding to our beliefs and differences as she grew up with our whole family being jw.
some family members have already said they will definitely be attending and some definitely not attending so i just want some extra advice and guidance!
Greetings, Sam:
Welcome to the forum, and wishing you the best in a difficult circumstance.
While not identical to what you describe, I feel what happened to me years ago bears mentioning. A dear friend was murdered and I attended her memorial, which was held in a public building. I spoke during open mic and performed some music. Somewhat after, I was questioned by several elders and privately reproved for "using bad judgment." My family had been interrogated beforehand by the same elders.
I don't regret having been present and participating; my references to the Bible and God's remembering those who have died was well received. I absolutely could not say "no" to her family for what they asked of me. The only thing I would have done differently is not tell JWs my business.
Blessings and Peace.
